Barro y Cemento

In a wooden frame, upon a slab of grey cement, rests a face of near-black clay with closed eyes, crowned by bark bound in fiber. It is a ritual portrait — the serene face of an ancestor, held between the hard and the fragile, gazing inward so as not to forget.
