Aldea Kuká

On Holbox, luxury means something else: going barefoot, green spilling into the rooms, the sea heard before it is seen. Aldea Kuká understands it that way, and so my work lives there — not visiting, but part of the house: paintings where the Caribbean and the earth stay to live on the canvas, weavings that move with the island air, ceramics that keep the fire they were born in. This exhibition has no dates: the pieces inhabit the hotel, dress it, keep it company — and every so often one leaves with whoever discovered it.
